Giacomo Puccini’s “Turandot“, a classic of Italian opera, returns to the Arena di Verona for the 2022 Summer Festival. Together with Georges Bizet’s “Carmen“, Giuseppe Verdi’s “Aida“,”Nabucco” and “La Traviata“, it constitutes one of the great operas scheduled for the 2022 Arena season.
An unmissable opera drama in a magical setting that will be staged from 4 August for seven evenings directed by Marco Armiliato (4, 7, 10 August), Francesco Ivan Ciampa (13 and 19 August) and, for a single date-event, by Plácido Domingo (26 August).
Franco Zeffirelli‘s fairy-tale setting is embellished by Oscar-winning costumes by Emi Wada, which frame the opera, famous also for the aria “Nessun dorma“.
Reruns of Puccini’s “Turandot” in the Arena are scheduled for 4, 7, 10, 13, 19 and 26 August and 2 September.
