Built around the 1st century A.D., the Arena di Verona is a symbol of the city and the largest open-air opera house in the world. In an excellent state of preservation, what once was an ancient amphitheatre where gladiator shows took place is now used for operas and concerts. Every year since 1913 it has been hosting the famous Opera Festival.
