“Werther” is an opera in four acts by Jules Massenet, based on Goethe’s epistolary novel “The Sorrows of Young Werther”. It will be staged from 26 to 31 March at the Teatro Filarmonico di Verona.
The tormented love story between the young Werther and Charlotte was performed only once at the Teatro Filarmonico di Verona in 1978: the title, passionate and exciting, among the cornerstones of the French repertoire of all time, will return to the Verona stage after forty-four years in a recent setup, signed by Stefano Vizioli (direction), Emanuele Sinisi (scenes), Anna Maria Heinreich (costumes), Imaginraium Creative Studio (visual) and produced by OperaLombardia in the months most marked by the pandemic and now finally visible live.
It is the third title scheduled for the 2023 Opera Season at the Teatro Filarmonico di Verona.
