One of the main shopping streets, Via Mazzini lies between Piazza Bra and Piazza delle Erbe, in the heart of Verona’s historic centre. It is one of the oldest and most prestigious pedestrian streets in Europe, built in the fourteenth century specifically to connect the two important squares. The first part of the street follows a Roman decumanus, while the second part was opened after the demolition of some medieval buildings.
Nearby and interconnected to Via Mazzini are Via Pellicciai, Via Cappello, Via Stella, Via Roma, Corso Porta Borsari, and Corso Sant’Anastasia. These streets are teeming with boutiques selling clothing, eyewear, shoes, jewellery, perfume, furniture and antiques, as well as bookshops, grocery shops and cafés.
Via Mazzini is the most elegant and fashionable of all streets and is a popular destination for many visitors, including international ones. It can be called the shopping street par excellence in Verona, thanks to the presence of big names in high fashion, including Armani, Gucci, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Montblanc, Bulgari, Fratelli Rossetti and many others. There are also some famous international brand chains with well-known names in fast-fashion.
What if you’re hungry after all that shopping? In Via Mazzini you will also find bars and restaurants to satisfy your taste buds. Finally, in the path between the two most important squares of the city you will find some historical jewels such as the beautiful Loggia Arvedi, built in neoclassical style by the Veronese architect Giuseppe Barbieri.
